Beschreibung
"bois sculpté" was inspired by a small carved piece of the same name by Pablo Picasso. I saw the work on display in Paris in 2001 and was drawn to its overall abstract shape as well as the rough grain of the wood which Picasso had made no attempt to soften or hide. It led me to reflect on the contrasting use of abstraction and narrative in musical form. "bois sculpt" is an exploration and juxtaposition of those ideas.
